City of Mercedes Parks Grant – $150,000.

The City of Mercedes, Texas has been in a fairly long-term relationship with the consulting firm of Hollis Rutledge & Associates (HRA).  HRA has always been responsive to our questions, needs, and in the preparation for numerous funding proposals.  If there is an issue from the funding agency, HRA is professionally prompt in addressing this; and always cross-referencing us in any messaging to keep us fully informed of the resolutions determined.  The City of Mercedes’ Administration continues to support the City Commissions’ action to keep re-engaging HRA to help us take full advantage of any (grant) funding opportunities.

Rio Grande City, TX

Since I have been employed with the City of Rio Grande City (2016) as City Manager,  Hollis and Associates were contracted as a strategy to ensure we maximize our public/state/federal grant funding opportunities thus allowing us to stretch our tax dollars in order to improve the quality of life of the residents of the City of Rio Grande City.   Hollis and Associates have been instrumental in working with us on ensuring every grant opportunity is fully explored to facilitate small to large scaled projects.  His staff is well versed on municipality needs and justifying or building a needs case to give us an edge when requesting grant funds.  Most recently Hollis and Associates traveled with us to Austin Texas to visit with the Texas Water Development Board to seek funding opportunities for the expansion of our Waste Water Treatment Plant, they were instrumental in helping us secure $7 million dollars ($2 million in forgivable loan and $5 million in low interest).  Hollis attending the meeting along with us made a difference given we were competing with many other municipalities from across the State of Texas for the same funds.  Most recently Hollis and Associates have been instrumental in providing technical expertise with Cares Act funding on ensuring we properly utilize such funds.  It is not uncommon that I can pick up the phone and get a hold of his staff for all types of questions involving grant funding opportunities.  Mr. Rutledge and Associates are well versed in what is available to municipalities and very accessible at any time.
